“Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.” – Sigmund Freud
Psychoanalysis was founded by Sigmund Freud, his belief was that people can be cured by making conscious their unconscious thoughts and motivations, thus gaining insight. For psychoanalysis therapy they suggested releasing repressed emotions and experiences. Freud also believed that the humans mind is made of three elements : the id, the ego, and the superego. How I can compare myself to this school of thought is when I was at Aurora it was better to let everything out because the nurses and techs would help you in any way they could and help me understand why I’m thinking what I’m thinking and how to control it. Then after I let out those emotions or experiences I went through to make me feel how I was feeling I became better for myself and now I’m better than I was and I’m not thinking as I was then now. Yes I know those experiences still happened but I’m not going to let that hold me back to moving on how I grow from those experiences is what matters.
