"The most immutable barrier is nature is between one man's thoughts and another's" - William James
Structuralism was the first school of thought and it focused on breaking down mental processes into basic components. Functionalism firmed was a reaction to the theories of the structuralist school of thought. Structuralism was formed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener and Functionalism was influenced wing William James. How I think I can compare myself to structuralism is that when I would overthink situations in my family. Like say if we were to have a disagreement about how I was giving attitude or talking back at the heat of the moment I don’t realize how they are processing what’s going on in their head and they don’t know what’s processing in my head. Although later on when the argument is over I start to think of why they thought I did what I did or how something I could’ve done made them think like that.
